Jason Marcus is privileged to have served in the construction field on extensive residential, commercial and agricultural client projects for over 25 years, starting with his first position as 'carpenter's helper' for David Baer Sr. ('Baer's Renovations') in 1979.
During and following his initial post education at Humber College (Music, Jazz Performance-3 years), Jason gained invaluable experience as an independent sub-contractor & renovator in Toronto before moving his young family to Kitchener ON, where he served as an installer ('Can-Am Exteriors').
Purchasing his first home, the unashamed 'renaissance man' (skilled tradesmen by day, sensitive musician by night!) arrived in the London area in 1987, where Jason increased his structural knowledge under Wayne Nemeth as framer-carpenter ('Wayne's Wood Works'), then again as sole proprietor and owner/operator ('Marcus Roofing') where he managed and completed several government contracts for a Middlesex County area general contractor ('Action Renovations').
Jason continued his formal education at Fanshawe College, successfully graduating from three business management programs (Administration, Systems Analysis & Design, and Computer Programming).
David Baer Sr. then placed a call to his long-time colleague (Jason) and offered him a new management position…
For the next 12 years Jason earned the respect of colleagues (fellow LHBA and Renomark members) and clients (3 consecutive Consumer Choice Awards) as London Project Manager, Estimator, and Sales Representative for David Baer Sr. and his partner and youngest son John (John & David Baer Inc.).
Jason's new position with J&D Baer Inc. included being professional representative for the innovative and award winning foundation waterproofing specialists 'Basement Boss London'.
A self-described 'life-long learner', Jason gained further expert knowledge in the areas of basement diagnostics, basement waterproofing, basement finishing, foundation repairs, foundation structural repairs, mold remediation, and healthy basements.
As a regular participant in Basement Boss Authorized Dealership meetings, Jason earned the respect and team camaraderie of owners Paul & Carole Smith ('Basement Boss', Head Office) in their ongoing efforts, certifications, and professional education seminars towards C.Q.I. for all clients.
David Baer Sr.'s retirement (a.k.a more time to farm with Marjorie!) and John Baer's decision to 'downsize' J&D Baer Inc. and work 'close to home' (Glencoe) became the catalyst for Jason to continue serving his clients in London with a 'new business' as President under the new name:
